                                                                                                                January 18, 2008

Just to let you let you know of a few changes to our January and February calendars.

For starters, "back by popular demand", we have scheduled another moebius cast on demonstration for this Tuesday night,
January 22.  We will begin around 6:30 PM.

Einstein Jacket by Sally Melville

In addition to our Einstein Jacket class scheduled for Wednesday afternoons in January from 2:00-4:00 PM, we have added
an additional class on Thursday afternoons, January 24, 31 & February 7.  This is a perfect social project (not a difficult
pattern so there is plenty of time to socialize).  Please let us know if you would like to join us for this class.

Also, the Peruvian Tweed has arrived and we have six wonderful colors for you to Oooooh and Aaaaah over!  Words cannot
do this yarn justice, you will have to come in and feel it for yourself.

On Tuesday evenings in February, we are offering a Knit-A-Long.  The project we will focus on is the "Dogi" vest found in
the Kimono Knit book by Vicki Square.  The Knit-A-Long is free and will be held in conjunction with our regular Open
Knitting/Crocheting from 6:00-8:00 PM.   To view our entire calendar of classes, go to January/February Classes.

December 20, 2007

Happy Holidays from the Cottage!  Beginning Saturday, December 22, through the end of the year, we will offer
sales on selected yarns throughout the Cottage!  Also, remind that special someone that it's not too late to stop
by the Cottage for that special little stocking stuffer or  Cottage Yarn Gift Certificate.  We will be open from
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.  We will also be closed Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, the 25th for
Christmas.

Many of our loyal Tuesday Night Knitters have requested we offer a different "Open Knitting Night" since both
Christmas and New Years fall on Tuesday evenings this year.  So for all of us who can't make it three weeks
without seeing each other, the Cottage will be open on Thursday, January 3, 2008 for "Open Knitting" from
6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.  Hope you have a wonderful and safe Holiday!

Cottage Creations!

A local fiber artist has agreed to hand dye yarns for the Cottage and we are calling them "Cottage Creations".
These are beautifully hand dyed yarns in several different color ways.   In each color, we have selections of 100%
wool yarn, nylon ribbon, a baby boucle, what we call "Grande" boucle, a mohair and 100% cashmere (which is
incredible)!  We also have scarf and shawl kits which come with everything you need to create that special gift.

Below are two shawls knitted from our "Cottage Creation" shawl kits.

Saturday, October 13,2007 Cottage Yarn had a stall at the "Barnfull of Quilts" at the Fox Family Farm in
Waxhaw, NC.  Below are some pictures of our set-up and the barn.  We had a great turnout and loads of fun!

September 6, 2007

Just a quick update on a few of the happenings around the Cottage.  Thanks to you, our "belated" anniversary yarn sale on August 25 was a huge success!  The day was HOT and so were the sales!

While we are talking about sales, we have converted our sun porch into our "Sales Room".  All yarn in the Sales Room is 40% off!  We have a nice selection of baby yarns like Snuggly Bubbly, Peter Pan Darling and Baby Cover just to mention a few.  We have beautiful yarns by Debbie Bliss such as Pure Silk, Merino Aran, Cotton Denim, Cotton Cashmere and Cashmerino Astrakhan.  Also, we have Rowan Bamboo Tape, Berroco Suede, Nature Cotton and  Maggi's Cotton.  There are too many yarns to mention all by name, so remember to check out our sales room on your next visit.

With the start of school signaling the end of summer, we have changed our store hours to reflect our busier schedule.  We will now be open on Monday from Noon to 5:00pm, Tuesday from 10:00am to 8:00pm (our open knitting from 6:00-8:00pm), Wednesday and Thursday hours are 10:00am-6:00PM, Friday hours are 10:00am-5:00pm and Saturday we are open 10:00am-4:00pm.

We have more very exciting news to share - we are planning our first knitting retreat.  It is scheduled for the weekend of Friday,  March 28 thru Sunday, March 30 at the Nu Wray Inn in the beautiful mountains of Burnsville, NC.  More information will follow.

Greetings from the Cottage!

In order to keep you AND OURSELVES up-to-date on the latest trends in the knitting and crocheting industry, each year we attend what is known as TNNA (The National NeedleArts Association) annual trade show.  This year, as in most, it was held in Columbus, Ohio and was absolutely phenomenal!  We were able to attend a fashion show previewing what is to come in the fall for gorgeous knitted and crocheted coats, sweaters, purses, skirts and dresses!  The look for fall and winter seems to be classic and tailored with a lot of shape and a little flair.

NEW LINES!

We're so excited to let you know we picked up several new lines at the Trade Show.......Blue Sky Alpaca   http://www.blueskyalpacas.com; Tilli Tomas http://tillitomas.com; Be Sweet http://oneplanetyarnandfiber.com; Classic Elite http://classiceliteyarns.com; and Hanah Silk Ribbons http://hanahsilkribbons.com

PLEASE view these websites but you absolutely cannot appreciate them until you see and feel them.  Hanah Silk Ribbons add an elegant touch to a wrap or purse, as well as baby items.  Samples of what is to come are at the Cottage now!!

SUMMER T-SHIRTS!

Already here for the summer are short sleeved t-shirts which have been pre-washed, pre-shrunk and HAND EMBROIDERED in sizes small to x-large!  A local company, Nona Louise, is currently supplying these exclusively to Cottage Yarn.  They're going quickly, so don't miss out.  Nona Louise also is providing us with beautiful yarn and accessory bags which can be personalized and are available in striking colors.  See these, along with our t-shirts, on our website!

BOOK SALE THIS SATURDAY!

Most of you know that we have an abundant supply of books with wonderful patterns.  This Saturday, June 9th, we will be offering many of our books at 35% off.  We are continuing our Colinette Sale - along with other great sales - so that we can make room for our fall and winter yarns to come.  Speaking of books.........Unfortunately, there are those times when we just can't knit/crochet and a great book fills the void.
We have some great books for reading on the beach or at the lake:  Cast On, Bet's Off which is a murder mystery; Everyone's favorite author Debbie Macomber's Back on Blossom Street and Family Tree which is an unforgettable novel about family heritage.

CLASSES!

June classes are posted on our website www.cottageyarninc.com .  Should you be interested in a class which is not scheduled, PLEASE call us.........We would be happy to arrange any class of your interest.

TUESDAY NIGHT OPENING KNITTING/CROCHETING!

Please continue joining us on Tuesday nights for Open Knitting.............and thanks for using only yarn from the Cottage when you join us.
Linda Silvia is a treasured resource, so let her assist you with any project you're working on whether knitted or crocheted.

Hope to see you soon and we wish you a continuing GOOD SUMMER!
